about Thomas Saunders
Architect, Author, Tarot Specialist & Teacher
Thomas Saunders, chartered architect, was elected a Fellow Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1968. Later, he was awarded the Advanced Certificate of Environmental Design and Crime Prevention and elected as a registered RIBA Client Design Adviser (CDA).
He was a visiting lecturer on Professional Practice and Business Management at the school of architecture now known as The University of East London.
In 1961, he set up on his own which became the major International practice The Thomas Saunders Partnership (TTSP). After 21 years as the senior partner he was prompted by Joseph Campbell’s remark,
The real killer in life is when you are at the top of the ladder and realise it is leaning against the wrong wall.
At that point, he knew he had to move on to explore wider horizons.
Since his ‘retirement’ from TTSP in 1984, he has acted as an independent consultant architect, writing and presenting seminars (Thomas Saunders Consultants Ltd.). He was chairman to one of the project management companies of City Merchant Developers Ltd.
